CHAIN OF COMMAND (Thriller/Romantic Suspense- 75,000 words)
When the President and Vice President of the United States are assassinated simultaneously on opposite sides
of the country, New York Times reporter McKenzie McClendon may have discovered the unthinkable: the shootings may
have been a plot to rocket the very first woman—the Speaker of the House—into the presidency. McKenzie was at home sick the day the biggest news story in history broke, so instead of nabbing the front page cover and
what would’ve been a career making story, McKenzie is demoted to writing an editorial piece about the former Navy SEAL
suspected of being one of the killers. Licking her wounds, she writes a scathing article not only trashing
the suspected SEAL, but implying that his associates may also be involved in the killings.
When
the accused SEAL’s partner shows up at McKenzie’s office demanding she retract the statements she made about his
partner, McKenzie jumps at the chance to get the inside scoop on the suspect. Smelling her ticket to a
front page story, she promises the SEAL that if they find anything to clear his partner’s name, she’ll write about
it. If nothing else, getting to know the assassin’s partner could be a hot news story itself.
But as the SEAL and McKenzie head to California in search of the truth, they begin to uncover a shocking
conspiracy: the killings were not only meant to establish the first female president of the United States, but the new President
herself may be the mastermind of the scheme.
THE POWER OF FIVE (Women's fiction- 80,000 words)
Psychiatrist Kristen Barfield grew up as one of The Five, best friends who held each other
together when the world threatened to tear them apart. But when Kristen was raped by a friend's father just after the
girls’ high school graduation, the explosion that ensued sent each of the five friends reeling down a different path. That is until a decade later, when those paths cross unexpectedly in the psychiatric
ward.
A late night page to the ER for a consult on a sexual assault victim brings Kristen
face to face with Lauren, the daughter of Kristen's rapist. This unexpected meeting precipitates a bizarre chain
of events which brings all five women back into each other's lives, and the former friends are finally forced to confront
the trauma that ripped them apart so many years ago.
When Lauren's father is later found shot to death in his home, trust is once again
tested as suspicion runs rampant among the girls, each sure that one of them is the murderer. Now, The Five must
decide if they will band together or let the tenuous bonds of friendship unravel once more.
THE QUARTER (Commercial Fiction- 80,000 words)
When five-year-old Natalie tosses a pink-painted quarter into a fountain, she’s positive
she’ll recognize it when it makes its way back to her, and that will be the day her wish will come true: her parents
will both be home again. Little does she know of all the lives the coin will touch on its journey home. A
spoiled teenage socialite who discovers she is pregnant; a paralyzed athlete who adopts a service dog as a last ditch effort
to regain his independence; a heartbroken waitress whose fiancé is killed on her wedding day; an ambitious model contemplating
murder; and a devoted husband who hasn’t left his comatose wife’s bedside in nearly four years: united only by
a single quarter floating among them.
Or
so it seems. For just as the quarter wanders subtly in and out of their lives, so do they drift into each
others’.
THE COLOR OF COURAGE (Women's Fiction- 82,000 words)
Lacy Gabriel thought she was prepared for the life of a military wife, but when her husband
deploys overseas, not only does Lacy never anticipate the current of fear that jolts through her veins every time she hears
a knock at the door, but she also has a secret to keep.
As the
wife of a lieutenant in the Navy’s secret counterterrorism force, SEAL Team Six, not even Lacy’s immediate family
can know the true nature of her husband’s work. Even though all she wants to do is sit by the phone
waiting for news, she must go on with her daily routine, because even though they are on the other side of the world, a wrong
step on Lacy’s part could compromise the men.
Lacy
comes to rely on the wives of the other men on her husband’s team, among them Amy, the fortress who keeps the women—and
their fragile secret—in check. But when word reaches the wives that their men were ambushed, Amy’s
husband gravely wounded and Lacy’s own husband missing after the fray, Lacy is astonished to see the bold leader crumble.
Lacy surprises everyone, including herself, when she rises to the occasion to fill the role of group leader in Amy’s
stead. With Amy gone, Lacy knows that even though her own husband is missing, she cannot retreat into sorrow
or desert the other women, lest they crack under pressure without someone to hold them steady at the helm.
