The Trade The Trade

A brilliant and ruthless surgeon is slicing near-term infants out of their mothers' stomachs before leaving the helpless women to die.

Meanwhile, five New Yorkers crash toward each other, unaware that only the collision of their five lives can bring down the city’s black market baby trade.  A widower desperate to bring home his kidnapped son; a scrappy street rat turned surrogate who learns her child isn’t being adopted by who she thinks; a rule-breaking nurse with too much understanding and everything to lose; a drug-addicted lawyer with a plan gone wrong; a young wife who’s the only Cradle Robber victim to survive.

Veteran reporter McKenzie Derrington needs an angle on this story to keep her job—and her home.  When her high school sweet heart tips her off that his wife may have been one of the victims, she launches a frantic search to find the killer and her ex’s son.  What McKenzie doesn’t realize is one of the five puzzle pieces won’t fit for a good reason, and she must uncover the imposter before the sabotage brings the killer closer to her.

Chain of Command

When the President and Vice President of the United States are assassinated simultaneously on opposite sides of the country, New York Herald reporter McKenzie Derrington may have discovered the unthinkable: the shootings may have been a plot to rocket the very first woman—the Speaker of the House—into the presidency.

McKenzie was at home sick the day the biggest news story in history broke, so instead of nabbing the front page and a career making story, McKenzie is assigned to a tiny editorial piece about the former member of Navy SEAL Team Six suspected of being one of the killers.  She trashes the suspected SEAL and also implies that his associates may be involved in the killings.

The accused SEAL’s partner shows up at McKenzie’s office demanding she retract her statements about his teammate, McKenzie jumps at the chance to get the inside scoop on the suspect.  She promises the SEAL that if they find anything to clear his partner’s name, she’ll write about it.

The Power of Five

Psychiatrist Kristen Barfield grew up as one of The Five, best friends who held each other together when the world threatened to tear them apart. But when Kristen was raped by a friend's father just after the girls’ high school graduation, the explosion that ensued sent each of the five friends reeling down a different path.

That is until a decade later, when those paths cross unexpectedly in the psychiatric ward.

A late night page to the ER for a consult on a sexual assault victim brings Kristen face to face with Lauren, the daughter of Kristen's rapist.  This unexpected meeting precipitates a bizarre chain of events which brings all five women back into each other's lives, and the former friends are finally forced to confront the trauma that ripped them apart so many years ago.

The Quarter

When five-year-old Natalie tosses a pink-painted quarter into a fountain, she’s positive she’ll recognize it when it makes its way back to her, and that will be the day her wish will come true: her parents will both be home again.

Little does she know of all the lives the coin will touch on its journey home. A spoiled teenage socialite who discovers she is pregnant; a paralyzed athlete who adopts a service dog as a last ditch effort to regain his independence; a heartbroken waitress whose fiancé is killed on her wedding day; an ambitious model contemplating murder; and a devoted husband who hasn’t left his comatose wife’s bedside in nearly four years: united only by a single quarter floating among them.

Or so it seems. For just as the quarter wanders subtly in and out of their lives, so do they drift into each others’.
